Cartoons for Friday

Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments. And if you ever run across a great webcomic we should be reading, let us know. Click on the pictures for larger versions on the respective sites.

This first one is from a site called Cectic. Please keep in mind that Cectic is unabashedly anti-religion, but I do think their comic merits some thought:

The one from cectic is yet another way that really points out why so many people think so badly of most people who call themselves Christians. For so many people being a Christian means they shut their brain down and stop using logic and common sense. It makes us all look stupid.
The one from Nakedpastor is great as you never really know what he is thankful for. It could be for just being a friend, sitting next to someone who needed the attention. As Jesus said when you fed them you fed me. In God's Grace John
The one from Cectic shows how much we need to spend time seeking the will of God. God can certainly remove your headache without the asprine. The question is do we believe it. Our actions (or the outcome) will always follow our beliefs. We have not because we ask not. Sometimes we ask and do not receive because we do not believe we can have it to begin with. Our God and Saviour has told us repeatedly that we can whatever we ask in His name. That means those things (promises) that He has given to us are ours for the taking. The challenge we face is we do not know what belongs to us, so therefore we seek out some other means other than Christ. God bless you all.
As C.S. Lewis pointed out, when a prayer is answered, there is a series of physical events which can be observed, which logically support the proposition, "See, it would have happened anyway." Therefore, if we rely on logic, an answered prayer can be proof that prayer doesn't work, just as well as an unanswered prayer. Which really shows that it is both silly and dangerous to try to "prove" the existence or love of God by events like this. We don't need to be wrapped up in this. I recently lost a digital camera, and can't figure out where I left it. Is God punishing me for indulgence in undeserved luxury while people are starving? Is Satan testing my faith? No, more likely I was just a little careless, and this is what happens. It reminds me of a movie about a young woman who was pregnant, unsuccessfully sought an abortion, and when her mother found out, mom said "Honey, it's a sin against God." I don't happen to believe that, but I appreciate mom's reply when the pregnant daughter sobbed "There is no God." Her mother fiercely replied "Oh yes there is! And he didn't get you into this mess, and he's not going to get you out of it." (She raised a beautiful baby girl to college, then finally found herself a man who really loved her.)
