Chinese jesus

If you're at all interested in the Church in China you should make some time to watch this Frontline special Jesus in China.

From what little I know of Christianity in China, there's a tenuous relationship between the government and the Church. And the official Chinese church isn't quite cutting it for many in the house church movement.

I really like the range of Christians the reporter talks to: everybody from underground house church members to official church pastors. Like in the United States, there seems to be a big disagreement as to how Christianity relates to their nationality. Except when one disagrees with the party line in China they risk jail time.

Anyone have more insight into this? What did you think of the program?

I saw the show and thought it was reported well. I agree that there was a good range of Christians that were portrayed. A couple of items that really stand out to me are:
1. The "official" church has pastors that are trained by the Communist Chinese Government. Without personally speaking to these men, no one knows if they have truly been called by God to preach the Gospel and to lead their Chinese brothers and sisters in following Christ.
2. The price that many underground or house church pastors and members pay is huge. Many are willing to be imprisoned or worse repeatedly. Unlike many of us, they have come to know the Savior they've accepted and serve is more than worth any persecution they may endure in this lifetime. And, they are finding that "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Our Chinese brothers and sisters are living stones whose cries are being heard and the Lord is answering them. May God birth a movement of Christ among us in the U.S.A. that He has birthed in China.
I was pleased to see this issue addressed by the secular media. The TV show and a two-part series in the Chicago Tribune (6/20/08 & 6/22/08) were coordinated. It was well done and balanced, showing the tug of war between the church ahd the Chinese government.
To god be the glory when i read this i started praising god that i can give him praise without prosecution . Ms./mrs. cr7876 made a very strong statement about the usa. that is so true i wish that people understand that they have the privilege to serve and won't and that how these people will go underground and any where they can find/be degrated imprison to serve our lord and savior jesus christ. I thought i had a strom after reading this it look's like i don't have a strom after all.
Praise the Lord. This is my 1st time i am telling my opponion about the QUESTION.Which i just read, that do u expect the second coming in your life?According to my knowledge no one in the World can give u the right answer. No body know when was the second coming is.If u r obeying his (Jesus)words r commandment u will be very happy to see the second comming in ur life time.I know one thing Jesus can come any time for his bride to take her.Thank u.
I thought this program was great - well reported and the reporter's love for the Chinese people shone through.

Thank you for the link to the Frontline World PBS segments. I watched a couple of other programs from the Frontline World series from this link, they were amazing. And I plan on watching even more programs. PBS has the highest quality programming on the airwaves today, if you ask me. Very high quality.

God bless the Chinese Christians. Lots of westerners won't even get up on a Sunday morning to worship Jesus with other believers - if, that is, if they even believe in anything beyond the material world. Freedom is taken so much for granted. Thank You, Lord, for the freedom to worship You openly and without fear of reprisal in the West.
