Maybe it's because it is Friday and my brain is fried from the work week - but I don't think I understand either cartoon.

Especially not the second one. In my experience, consumerism is just as rampant among (most) Christians as it is in (most of) the rest of society.
@amyb: I hear you on the brain being fried. What a week.

Anyway, my take on the second one is that this is how Christians should be reacting to the fat man of consumerism. We should, in fact, be subverting his plans.
Subvert his plans by giving to the poor, I think 'someone' said that?

thanks, hit me where it hurts, my concience.
Wait, I like stuff in fact I sometimes think I don't have enought stuff. But, it's what you do with that stuff. Give to others so that they too will know the kindness of Jesus Christ. I really don't have alot of stuff, but I'm willing to give this stuff to others if it will help them on their path to the light that shows us the path home. It's when we think that only me should have all the stuff is when it becomes a problem. As Jesus said to have and do in moderation and to share what you have with those who need it more. I don't understand the first cartoon, I know he is there for us all; we just have to ask. I however, don't understand why he has to be nailed to the cross again to get his attention. In God's Grace John
