Ghosts Among Us: uncovering the truth about mediums

Multi-million-dollar medium, James Van Praagh, is out with a new book: Ghosts Among Us: Uncovering the Truth About the Other Side.

In it, he reveals that the set of TV's Ghost Whisperer is haunted and that Britney Spears has two ghosts "attached" to her. (Hmmm? Could it be the ghosts of that head-shaving incident and her performance on the MTV Awards show?!)

Way back in March 1998, my newspaper column uncovered the secrets to his so-called Talking to Heaven. And I wrote extensively about ghosts in The Why Files. So, let me call up the ghosts of articles past:

Are there really ghosts?

Are mediums really Talking to Heaven?

How do psychics do that?

I read the "Are there really ghosts?" article and thought it was okay. I interpret the verse he references in Luke to mean that there is a great chasm between heaven and hell, not death and life on earth. One interesting story in the Bible that talks about talking with the dead though is found in 1 Samuel 28 when Saul requests Samuel to be brought back from the dead. The Bible makes it sound like there is no falsehood to this story. Just my thoughts.
As a born-again christian I believe Gods word is pure unadulterated truth so when I see 'ghosts' or 'spirits' or whatever they are called running around my house I ask "What the..?" We had ( I say 'had' because we haven't seen them for about 2 years now, although every now and then odd things happen) 4 ghosts in our house. We also managed to get photos of them. 2 kids, a small boy around 10 wearing knickerbockers, a girl about 11 wearing a white pinnafore. A woman in her 20's or early 30's wearing a deep green, buttoned to the neck dress and button up boots and a man around his 30's.
We have heard the 2 kids arguing about a rocking horse being broken and getting fixed at the blacksmiths and other people have seen them as well. They often opened doors at all times of the day, definetely weren't limited to night shift despite Hollwoods efforts to pigeonhole them. The kids would run through the house and one Saturday morning while sitting in bed with my wife reading I literally felt someone walk into the room and stand beside me looking at me. I said to my wife what I felt and she said that the woman was standing beside me, she could see her and Jen said that she was smiling .
We have regularly prayed over our house and we had mens group as well and don't feel these "people' are sinister as we have often commanded them to leave in Jesus name if they are not there on Gods work, but they stayed on.
But 2 years ago we left our church and moved to another one and our spiritual lives have literally skyrocketed, we are growing so much in God. We just love it and after so many years we are seeing so much fruit. Now we no longer see or hear them. What's changed? Only us. Were they there for a purpose? We just have no idea. Only God our Father knows. Were they ever dead or just 'asleep' until needed?
We don't normally talk to other christians about it because the first thing they do is tell you it's demonic which we are certain it's not. You tell me.
I am a Christian also. But could it be, that these apparitions WERE demonic did not leave until you all became CLOSER to GOD gained POWER in CHRIST, so that they coudl not stay? I think that the Bible makes it clear that there are ghosts/spirits, but that they are not "friendly", otherwise, why would people be scared of them.
