A movie I watched once on Los Angeles said that in LA no one touches - they don't even bump into each other on the sidewalk. A character felt that some folks have car accidents just so they can have contact with another human.
Whatever.
But it was pointing to a lack of intimacy in our society - superficiality rules.
Well, now there's an answer for the intimacy-starved masses! Cuddle Parties! Here's what one of the organizers says about the gatherings:
These are people that you would probably never talk to, you would never hang out with under normal circumstances, but by the time you leave the party you feel like you know these people.
I wish I could give the simplistic answer that folks could just go to church for their emotional needs...but so many churches are just not real. Too many church-going folks are just as superficial as the world.
Someday, maybe...
