Short piece in the CS Monitor on how evangelicals are spending Halloween. Not surprisingly, evangelicals are all over the map in the way they're spending the year's spookiest holiday; the article highlights some of the ways that some Christians use the holiday as an evangelism opportunity. (Hey, as long as they're not handing out this tract, more power to 'em--read Joe Carter's thoughts on that particular piece of Christian literature.)
Now that the night is coming to a close, how did you and your household spend the evening? Do you get into the holiday spirit with costumes and trick-or-treating? Do you prefer to avoid the holiday because of its occult overtones? Are you handing out evangelism tracts along with candy?
I must admit a certain fondness for Halloween and trick-or-treating--when I was a kid, my parents let us young 'uns dress up for Halloween as long as we steered clear of occult-themed costumes. That still left plenty of options--I recall assuming the guise of Darth Vader, Megatron, and Zorro over the years. (I do remember being annoyed when people would hand out evangelism tracts not accompanied by candy, so I hope those of you dispensing tracts aren't forgetting to also include some Reese's Pieces.)
