What do you want to look like?

Remember that cool "real beauty" video last year? Here's something else along similar lines: a before-and-after image gallery showing off what image-editing software can do to "improve" on the human face. Click through the different portraits--the "fixes" range from simply clearing up blemishes to rearranging the shape and position of eyes and other features.

Somewhere between "can we eliminate the red-eye effect?" and "let's reshape the way your face looks," we've crossed the line into creepy territory. I'm sure that humans have been "improving" on reality since the first artist put brush to canvas, but it's a bit unnerving to see the sharp contrast between what we actually look like and what we (apparently) wish we looked like.
