Eddy and Boyd's "The Jesus Legend" is excellent; it would also fit into the "Apologetics" category. Covers a lot of the same territory as Roberts' "Can we trust the Gospels?" but in a much more thorough and, IMHO, useful way. (Eddy and Boyd also have what I assume is an abridged version called "Lord or Legend?: Wrestling with the Jesus Dilemma", 192pgs vs 480pgs for The Jesus Legend.)
I'm intrigued by what I've heard about the Jesus Legend, is it written like a reference manual?
"Making Judgments without Being Judgmental" by Terry D. Cooper (IVP, late 06; might just miss the cutoff) is an excellent work of Christian psychology, and a book that deserved more recognition than it received. It's a bit more accessible to the avereage reader and a good resource for discussion groups, but also a strong followup to Cooper's "Sin, Pride and Self-Acceptance" (IVP 03).
Thanks Chris. I bought Anthony Flew's book, There Is A God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind, today and could not put it down. Such an interesting take on people like Richard Dawkins, Bertrand Russel and Alfred Einstein, not to mention CS Lewis and others. Totally worthwhile read.
Who was Alfred Einstein? Albert's cousin? They called him Alf. He was a refrigerator repairman in Des Moines.
