Leg-Dropping For Jesus

HT: Stephen over at Thoughts of a Worshiper.

I'll admit that I'm personally pretty skeptical of these healings. I guess I would have to talk to someone before and after being violently beat up by the speaker.

Thoughts?

um... ouch?
If he would have come at me... I'd leg drop him.
This bothers and embarrases me. On the one hand I know God heals today whether in response to prayer, simple declaration (as Peter at the gate with the lame man) or simply spontaneously. On the other hand this kind of "Tumor exploded right off her leg and slid to the floor" is either exaggeration or lying. Jesus healed in some odd ways...like spitting in the dirt to make mud to smear in someones eyes...but this stretches me. There are lots of reputable, successful ministries with strong healing gifts...Bill Johnson in Redding California, Randy Clark in Pennsylvania and I have never heard of this kind of unusual or violent method. Todd is a controversial guy who has gotten more flamboyant over time. I heard him in person 3 years ago and thought he was odd then. It's just that it grieves me that for a lot of people Todd will represent the whole genre of Charismatic healing ministries when in reality he is a tiny, controversial minority. Charisma Magazine is publicly questioning his behavior as well. read http://charismamag.com/forums/...
i absolutely can. not. believe this. i WILL NOT.
as an abuse survivor, if i had to witness one of these "healings" (in fact, even hearing about them) it would trigger everything in me that has worked for decades to believe that God is good.
and i know, I KNOW, that i am not the only one.
He'd be the one who needed healing if he tried that stuff on me.
I would be interested in hearing confirmation from some of these people he pummelled. I would also like to hear from objective bystanders who may have witnessed these events. I would also want a lot of background on these people to find out whether these people were planted in the crowd beforehand. Call me a doubting Thomas but this sounds bogus to me. I absolutely believe God can and does miraculously heals people. I know people who have experienced healing when people prayed for them, I said prayed for, not tackled. I think Rick is on the right track. This guy represents himself not all pentecostals, charismatics or fundamentalists. Labelling him as any of these things simply diminishes other believers who may share some similar doctrinal positions but are miles away from his methods or his spirit.
Thanks for speaking up, Mo. We know that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. And what He did yesterday He will do today. Personally I don't think Todd is a charlatan like Robert Tilton, with shills and a con game. I think he is someone who is in desperate need of attention. Someone who will play act and perform a role for approval. He has hit on some human emotional trigers that can be manipulated. I would like to hear from some of those who have attended his meetings as well. And, who am I to say that some people are not genuinely manifesting faith and are occasionally healed. In fact, some people even come to faith in Jesus and repentance in his meetings. But ultimately, nothing good will come of this kind of imitation charisma. Sad.
We need to pray for Todd Bentley and any one who follows him.
Greetings in Jesus,
You and any of us have had to be part of a church with many branches. You should know the story by now, "we bear fruit unto the Kingdom of God". I live in an area not far from the infamious snake dancen "Church" folks. They are born again Christains, ask any one who may be loosly connected to the activity. I have a close realitive that goes to a church that even if they believed in that activity to be testing natures laws, they know the folks are trusting in Jesus. In a more casual setting they might express that there are miracles attained in those meetings.

The good Presbytarian doctrin doesn't allow for too many miracles and gifts of the Spirit to come forth. To me, the Shepards rod simply dips low some places for us in faith in Christ.
Never shall we ever have the right to condem any soul or person who names the name of Jesus. We are just not given the right to. Besides as a good American we just have been lifted so high in our equalitarianism, we should feel so free to let each soul find the love of God in Jesus the way He has intended. I ever think of the words of Jesus. Even if the Lord is the maker of all things, the Kingdom of Heaven is not seen by observations, the prudent and wise of the worldly and earthly minds are blinded. It is evident that it is impossible to please God without the loving Faith of God.
The comments are a little visious to me. No one gets away with nottin is my cree, To love and have care is what sets me free. Everything else we give to God on our knee.
great clip. really like your site.
I just wanted to thank you guys for mentioning my blog in the past and sharing your readers with me. It's honestly been a huge, cool thing for you to do and I really appreciate it.
