Is it just me, or do those always-interesting Barna reports never seem to have much in the way of good news? At any rate, lots of data in a recent report on the phenomenon of twentysomethings abandoning the religious zeal of their teenage years.
It's not all bad news, and the jury's still out as to whether the drop in religious practice is a temporary phase or a permanent lifestyle change. Also, there's the question of whether they're dropping out of their faith, or just out of the traditional religious life--the report describes them as "spiritually disengaged (i.e., not actively attending church, reading the Bible, or praying)" but not necessarily uninterested in their faith. At any rate, worth a read, especially if your church (like many churches I've attended) has a mysterious membership gap in the 20-30 age range.
