New Poll: Banned Books

We just put up a new poll. It's a straight forward yes or no question: Have you ever read a banned book?

Here's the list that the ALA publishes if you need a refresher. Feel free to post in the comments which ones you have read.

Over the last week we asked you to chime in on how long you've been using your current translation of the bible. 147 of you voted:

I've read 16 on this list, and I started a few more that I didn't like. A few of my favorite books -- The Giver, A Wrinkle in Time, Brave New World -- show up there.

Why Where's Waldo?, though? Does anyone know what's offensive about that one?
In regards to Where's Waldo: Nudity. There's a half naked woman on a beach in one of the books.

The Giver being banned doesn't make sense at all to me.
    I'm a librarian. 'nuff said.
What on earth? I fully expected to go through the list and have trouble finding a banned book that I've read. I couldn't get past #1. Why are these books being banned? What the heck?
Yep - I've read several. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the choices on the list.

I mean, To Kill a Mockingbird?....Mark Twain? what could possibly happen if we were to read these books?

God gave us a brain for the purpose of discernment (among other things) - I hope most of us use our own brains to determine what is or isn't ok to read.
22- 2 "books" being series and not just single novel.... I'm amazed!
