Only two candidates join faith forum

Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama faced tough questions at the Compassion Forum held at Messiah College Sunday. John Meacham, Newsweek editor, and Campbell Brown of CNN asked such questions as "Why does a loving God allow suffering?"

Senator Clinton answered, "I don’t know. I can’t wait to ask Him." She added, "For whatever reason it exists, it’s a call to action."

Senator Obama was asked about his comments that "bitter" voters in Pennsylvania were "clinging to guns or religion." He answered that faith "a bulwark, a foundation when other things aren’t going well” and that, as a "devout Christian," he wasn't "demeaning" his faith.

Presumptive Republican candidate, John McCain, was invited to join the forum but did not attend.

Is faith a foundation when other things aren't going well? Hebrew 11:1 said, "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what do not see."
It's sad that they don't say what is in their hearts, or should they? Maybe it's good that they not say anything, less than they love God. I love God more than anything else here or in heaven. We choose to do things that hurt us from loving someone who doesn't love us, to thinking it's someone elses fault things happen. In Matthew 22: 37 to 40 it says to love God and to love one another. If you follow this then the love of God will come out as a shinning example to others. In God's Grace John
I am glad you put it as "Only two candidates join faith forum". They have two candidates that did not participate. One is as mentioned is Sen. McCain and the other is Alan Keyes now with The Constitional Party www.AlanKeyes.com/
At least Hillary had the courage to be honest. The thing is that sadly, too many christians don't even know the answer to this one or worse still try to answer with some stupid cliche. The scriptures urge us to be ready to defend our faith but how many spend enough time reading their Bible to be able to do that?
To answer this question it would take some knowledge of Genesis, being able to explain that through suffering we can learn and grow spiritually and be of mature assistance to others, just to mention a couple of things.
The obvious question that will be asked - Why do children suffer? Well some of their suffering is directly due to man's cruelty or greed. If someone asks why does He let people starve? Then the obvious answer is that He doesn't - we do. After all why is it that millions of tons of unsold wheat are taken out to sea and dumped? Simply to keep the price up. Is this Gods fault? It's been estimated that $20 Billion dollars is all it will take to rid the world of poverty. This is less than the annual consumption of ice-cream in America. I'm certain a few of these multimillionaire celebrities who strut round telling us to care for the starving could use their money and still live comfortably on $5Million dollars for the rest of their lives. Look at Paul McCartney - $250 Million dollars in the bank and he makes about $850,000 each week. You can't tell me he couldn't do more. Yet we pat those like him on the back for swanning around the world with publicity team in tow adopting kids.
Did Obama get asked this same question?
This I'm sure will be too glib for some
