Should Christian Music Exist?

In How to Fix CCM, a commentary from Christian Music Today, Mark Joseph says:
Using "Christian" as an adjective—whether you're a plumber or a musician—is little more than a weapon, used to beat back people who might otherwise be interested in the service or product offered, but upon hearing that it is "Christian" are no longer interested.
His points about christian music are interesting (and well taken), and I also have ears to hear his bigger point. My frustration with "Christian ___" is almost a life-long one--having grown up in an extremely conservative household where we didn't support people who didn't claim Jesus in their lives.

How have you experienced "using 'Christian' as an adjective"? Do you gravitate towards Christians who proclaim their Christianity on their business cards? Do you avoid them? Do you think there is such a thing as "Christian music" or "Christian Washing Machine Repairman"? Do you think it matters? Do you think Jesus approves?
