John Piper has written a very powerful piece about not "wasting your cancer." As he prepares to go in for surgery himself, he lists ten ways you can "waste" the experience of cancer (and other experiences of suffering). Some of his points are difficult to hear, but they all focus on the importance of seeing suffering not just as an experience to be endured, but rather as an opportunity to grow closer to Christ.
What do you think of his list? Have you come to similar (or different) conclusions during periods of suffering in your own life?
