World Copying Christian Vocab

So, what kind of "disciple" is this sultry-looking woman wanting to make you? Turns out it's a come-on for an online bar where you can, and I quote, "Get someone drunk by buying them a virtual Corona or shot of whiskey."

Is that even possible?! (What's the cure for a virtual hangover?) And, most of all, what's the word "disciple" doing advertising an online bar?

It seems the world is copying Christian vocabulary to sell all kind of sacrilegious stuff (eg. Biker Jesus).  Rockers from Alice in Chains to Black Sabbath to Marilyn Manson are singing about "born again." And the Fox TV hit 24 kicks off the new season with "Redemption."

The one thing the world can't counterfeit, market or upload is the language of love!

Jesus said, "So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34-35 NLT).

So, some thoughts on real love.

If I Cor. 13 says "Love is patient and kind...not jealous or boastful or proud or rude...does not demand its own way...is not irritable...keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out...never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

Seems to me that our hearts should be heavy for people who have so little understanding of Christ. Of course I feel outrage because I love Jesus but ultimately my prayer has to be His prayer: "Father, forgive them they don't know what they are doing." As long as Christ leaves us in the world it means he hasn't given up on it and neither can we. My reaction to this is to think about how I can use even this to move these folks toward Christ. Perhaps what we have here is a conversation starter.
I don't see what the big deal is.
Since when is Redemption a Christian Only term?
Yes I'm back and it's nice to see all of your comments again. Redeems my soul to see that you haven't given up on the one we love so much. Thanks MO for your comments, which are mine as well. Lynch Patrich nice to see your name again and still nice to know how much you love our savior. Just me, it's not and if you look it up in a dictionary you will see what it means. Use what we have available to open doors to Christ Jesus and if that is a photo or drawing like the one above then use it. As an example, if someone asked you, "Would you use that to gather disciples to Christ?" I would say no, but have you thought about what we should use to bring more to Christ. In God's Grace John
I say that if they want to take our Christian lingo we just go ahead and let them have it.

Maybe it is time to think of new adjectives for the different aspects of Christianity.
