Don't let your inner 11-year-old vote for you

Gideon Strauss

This article reminds me of a book I just read by Os Guinness called The Case for Civility.

As a voting Christian I feel the current mentalities and methods of political campaigning is not going to attract candidates who are true to the principles laid out in the Gospels. I have a problem with Strauss' use of the phrase "both candidates." There are more than two. As a voting Christian I often cast my votes for candidates I know won't win because I can't endorse the candidate, the positions, or the methods of the "major parties."

I don't think the term "both in the above article refers to the candidates there, but to the candidates versus the journalists. Two different views, therefore "both". As for the rest of his article, you are doing exactly what he is advocating. Ask the hard questions and go with the candidate that may not have the most favorable persona, going by the world's standards.

I applaud you standing up for your values and not following the crowd. In this day and age it is hard when we hold a view or belief that is contrary to mainstream society.
