The story of Reyna Garcia
March 18, 2015
Why should Christians care about immigration reform? According to artist and immigrant Reyna Garcia, because Jesus "was a social justice person."

I was an immigrant of sorts when I came from the United States to Canada many years ago. However there was no adjustment as I spoke the language and looked like everyone else.
Recently many immigrants and refugees came to my church from the Congo. We welcomed them with open arms and helped them get settled and get the items they needed for themselves and their families. I made curtains for many of them and took them to second hand thrift stores as well. The thrift store was operated my the Catholic church and they as well welcomed them and gave them at least 5 times what they would have given other families, recognizing that local families had clothes and housewares at home and just need a little bit of things.
I was raised in the US Military and was raised to see everyone as equal no matter what their skin color or where they came from. My parents were not Christians but I am as well as two of my siblings, my two of three children are and 4 of my 5 grandchildren are raised in the church as well.
God has given me a ministry to the poor, downtrodden and outcast both because I have been there myself and probably moreso because I see everyone as my equal.
