I have often been comforted and catapulted by Bonhoeffer's ethics of response-ability, and by his poem, Action, inciting us to engage with the world, not retreat, for we are members of it....

Do and do what is right
not swayed by the whim of the
moment
Bravely take hold of the real
not dallying now with what might be
Not in the flight of ideas
but only an action is freedom.
Make up your mind
and come out into the tempest of
living
God's strength is enough
and your faith in him
to sustain you
Then freedom will greet your soul
amidst great rejoicing
