HBO, Luck and the narrative strategies of the Bible

In the last few years I've enjoyed reading larger portions of the Bible at once. For example, it feels different when you read a whole NT letter instead of select verses or chapters.

Once I sat down and read John all the way through (I had a lot of time on my hands). I was struck by how exciting the gospel was. I kept reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next (even though I already knew).

It was interesting. Maybe give it a try sometime.

Great thoughts. I was talking to someone just today about a similar way to treat the Scripture. Of course, it is also interesting to just look at this from a story writing standpoint--how HBO and others have just done a better job of organically growing a story and its characters as opposed to the regular TV formula.
