Freedom and consequence in Dishonored

It's been interesting tracking this game through reviews and playthroughs on YouTube - my aging PC rig isn't up to running the game it appears - particularly the choice dynamic the game offers and the players' elect to use.

It's not an entirely novel approach to a game; classic series 'Thief' and 'Deus Ex' offered the player a non-lethal route through the game and rewarded the player for those choices. Certainly the early Thief games did not allow you to complete the harder difficulties with a single innocent body on your tally even capping off the number of knock-outs permitted on some levels.

The amount of personal satisfaction gained from non-lethal gaming was immense but those choices only became stark in a game world where death and mayhem were possible.
