Yes. In the dramatic scenes in the book of Revelation watch the interchanges between the merchants at sea, the beast and the whore that rides it. All need and use the other yet all are quick to turn on the other when it serves their own interests. 

Part of the reason Revelation is so dramatic about it is because the goings on around us are so mundane. We can't see it because we are too close to it until that defining moment when we see the enemy and it is us.

Interesting! A reminder that it's sometimes what we don't do- make conscious choices to do things differently rather than following what seems to be the norm- that really gets us into trouble.

I appreciated the post.  My concern is that in the quick summary of the financial crisis you fail to mention the true source of it.  Just ask the questions, "where did all the cheap money come from?"  And, "why would banks be so eager to sign off on risky loans?"  An entire economy doesn't just start making irrational decisions.  It is critical to understand this point to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
