I'm not totally sure what this article is pointing at. I did read the pervious one but all the same, I missed the point. I really enjoyed that sermon and was glad to have "run into it."

I got the feeling that you believe we should not let our "guard down" after judging an artist as Christian too soon. To me, that is saying Christians tend to trust, admire, and look up to people they deem Christian. Then we are at fault when these people fall short or turn out to be something else. Is that what I am hearing?

I will say that I think we need to be more intentional about looking up to, admiring, and fully trusting only God. Meaning not the bible and not our spiritual leaders. I believe this is how truth is revealed. That is not to say there is not importance in leadership but that making any Christian figure into an all knowing, righteous man is dangerous. So yes, I agree it is also dangerous to idolize a celebrity or musician. Jesus, in context, calls us to hate out mother and father, and I think this means that we are only to love God and through that love we will live our lives to love, trust, and form community with His children.

That all being said, I believe that Mumford & Son's music profess powerful cries to God. Whether Mumford label's himself Christian or not, his lyrics shake my very soul. My soul which longs and aches for our Heavenly Father. I am looking towards Him and He shows me where He is; it is in a lot
more places than in those who call themselves Christians.

I know people who may not know God who are deeply touched by Mumford's music. It speaks to something God placed in us,
like the part He blew into Adam to give him life.

If we limit where/how we can learn about the one true God then we limit the one true God.

The point was mainly to ask Christians what they make of all this consternation over Marcus Mumford's statements, rnkumpost. Thanks for sharing your good thoughts on the topic.
