This is an excellent explanation of restorative justice in schools, and why it is so necessary!

Johnathan, you are right on. I am a retired high school principal and even though we did not call it "restorative justice" in days gone by, I worked with students in a relational learning discipling way.

Professor Dorothy Vaandering and the Shalem Mental Health Network have been sharing a monthly newsletter for schools on restorative practice. It's available http://shalemnetwork.org/support-programs/support-programs-restorative-practice/ along with other resources for churches and other organization.

Love everything except the term "discipline." If it is by consensus, perhaps there is a better word...I like something such as "repair," which would restore that which was broken/damaged.
