Beautiful. This is also how the Church grew from a motley crew of 12 in a tiny desert town to 2 billion covering every corner of the planet. Not only that, but in my opinion we keep growing towards more revelation, more power and more unity. The beautiful Bride of Christ. What seems random, chaotic and fraught with danger turns out to be a path God ordained. Like creation. Thanks Paul.

Thanks Paul, the 'creation science' people have seemed to me to be protesting too much against evolution, they gave the impresion that if we could only pick some holes in the evolutionists theories their arguments would fall out. John Polkinghorne gives us something to think about without the strident notes of the creation science brigade or the atheist scientists, Dawkins et al. I keep coming back to 1 Cor3:19."This is because God considers the wisdom of this world to be foolish. It is just as the Scriptures say,"God catches the wise when they try to outsmart Him." I am not a scientist & don't understand most of what they study,(I have a son who is a biochemist - I have tried)! but then again I can't say I understand God but I have a suspicion God understands scientists only too well. I do thank God He gave us the ability & desire to be curious about what, when & Why.

The Church tradition that asks us to believe in the "mystery" of faith in God also has us deny the mystery stated by Polkinghorne, the "shuffling explorations of possibility." Seems to me to be more an earthly power-struggle, the age-old quest for the corner on truth, human arrogance (knowledge of good and evil) to proclaim exclusive intimate knowledge of God, his ways and means.

I agree you can see alot of providence in unlikely sources. I remember after watching the matrix I began to notice a great deal of parallels between the spiritual world and the physical.

what is the bible
