Christians have a particular reason to celebrate Gilmore Girls coming to Netflix streaming: the way the show balances love of family and love of community.

Bethany,
Thank you for such a nice article on Gilmore Girls. I am originally from Connecticut and I really liked Gilmore Girls. It does truly capture the essence of a small New England town. After I read your article, I told my wife (who is a big fan)and she is thrilled that it is coming to Netflix.
Thank you so very much

I am a born again Christian, and really enjoy the show! I am currently watching it on Netflix now. However, I don't think that the show should be considered a wholesome Christian family show. It does give a good example of independent women, but it is OPENLY anti-religion, specifically anti-Christian. Every couple of episodes, one of the characters makes a remark that directly criticize biblical beliefs. Plus there is plenty of premarital sex, and cursing. So while I honestly think it is entertaining and well written, the show is not for families seeking an example and it is certainly not for children (the themes are heavy and the message would confuse the biblical values which you are trying to instill)

That's a courageous comment. I like that you saw what needed to be said and did so lovingly, so as not to detract from the effort put into the article. You gave not just a solid perception of the contrast between worldly views of the show and how it could be misconceived to be "Christ-like" rather than simply moral, but you gave the option that a mature believer could enjoy the positive message(s) found in the show whereas a family trying to raise children in the admonition of the Lord (for example) wouldn't be served in doing so by incorporating this show. I respect the article's author in their view of the loving community of the small town and I enjoy the recognition of God's common grace in aspects of even secular life, but to say "there is no secular" might be misleading.

If you do not write or review professionally you certainly should! There are not many people blessed with understanding of the Truth, and likewise gifted in writing! Michael's no slouch either. Glad to share the planet with you both. Look me up when you get to eternity.

I couldn’t agree more with Sabrinas comment.
I love the show however can definitely notice the non Christian scenes. Especially when Rory sleeps with a married Dean.
Anyway I’m about to watch an episode now, these comments have canceled and rebuked any guilt trips the enemy tries to put in my path. God bless y’all. ????????
