Hannah Price and responding to catcalls with grace

I agree that these men are to be treated with dignity, but it's not because catcalling is a neutral activity. It's a demeaning practice that should be stopped. The way to lead people to repentance is by showing them the love of God. (Romans 2:4.) Price's response in giving these men the dignity they failed to give her is an act of love.

Tim, thanks so much for reading and for your comment. I agree completely that catcalling is not a neutral activity. I think Ms. Price was gracious above and beyond what is necessary to call this only a "cultural behavior". If you read her interviews, this generous spirit shows up time and again. May love multiply again and again in her life and the lives of the men she photographed.

What most impresses me here is how Ms. Price showed more grace and dignity than those catcallers. She did just what they refused to do, or couldn't do. She saw a moment of their lives (a woman walking down the street; a man catcalling after her) and chose to see beyond it. I've received a few whistles, not much since I'm not a headturner, but enough that I know how hard it can be not to feel reduced to your body. Good on her for exercising her own imago dei in this way.
