If there is a Gospel power to Netflix's Luke Cage, it's due to the source of his name.

Beautiful, thoughtful essay. I admit that I am a little "Marvel-ed out," but I may have to give Luke Cage a try, not only for its quality but also to take up your challenge.

I too was really impressed with how the show went. I think he makes a very positive role model. Marvel, both in comics and in the cinematic universe has pleasantly surprised me on occasion with even-handed treatment of Christianity and faith. I don't always agree with some of the character's choices, but I don't feel villianzed for following Jesus, either.

Love your blog, by the way!

What a croc! Luke Cage is either good or bad, it's got nothing to do with good shootings by cops, or marginalized black Christians (assuming that's what the author meant). Nor, I think does it have to do with the author's realization that he's white.

The show is good. The acting is good. It's worthy of a look. Race does not and should not have anything to do with it.
