I'm going to vote for the father being Bert Cooper, especially given Bert's predilection for going shoeless in his office. (Somebody buy the guy some slippers!)

Silent but unapproving mother? I think Joan has become that character. She wasn't, originally - she was happy enough carrying on with Roger - but once she went against her better judgment to get a partnership, now she's more sensitive about keeping the high ground, even if she doesn't say anything to Don, Roger, and Pete about their various misdeeds.

I like these suggestions, Chris. I was also thinking about Betty as Mother, but she's mostly been silent because of the show's decision (unwise in my opinion) to relegate her to the sidelines.

It always comes back to the heart of the viewer. Is he vicariously living the sin or observing it from the outside.

Err, I think if we use Mad Men as a case study, there are many things Christians should not be watching. Movies with violence and sexual scenes inclusive. http://mytestimonys.blogspot.com/2013/05/folorunsho-alakija-god-made-billionaire_14.html
