Josh,
Thank you for your insight, I've been following Filmspotting for a few years now and also enjoy LarsenOnFilm. Today I'm happy to discover that you write for this very thoughtful faith-based website as well. Coming in as a Christian, I wholly agree with your thoughts on Sundance and film's revelatory power, as well as aforementioned articles on sexuality in film.
I've read through the comments from your piece back in July upon Nymphomaniac's dvd release and realize how much variation there is in opinion. That is a beautiful thing and as I get older, God may continue to shape my views slightly differently (fascinating how personal He is with each one of us).
For now I can say, that I truly condone and appreciated Under The Skin's powerful message on body image and the male gaze yet also would take issue with the gratuitousness of The Wolf of Wall Street. I understand and heard a great deal about Scorsese's admirable intentions but think he handled it MUCH more effectively in Goodfellas or Casino.
Anyway, thought I'd leave that as a note.
All the best,
Jeremy
