Why having kids shouldn’t make you happy

Loved this. From the perspective on an empty-nester here's what I've learned:
1. The adventure of following Christ takes precedence over whatever cultural expectations we might have about "family life."
2. Parenting should not supercede the "coupleness" of marriage. The kids are supposed to leave home.
3. Parenting involves inviting the kids along on our journey with Christ not interrupting the adventure until they are grown.
4. Interacting with people outside their own demographic prepares kids to love and serve in whatever adventure Christ has laid out for them.
