What does that Jaden and Willow Smith interview look like through the lens of parental empathy?

Thanks for an excellent perspective. It is a gift to let our kids know that ordinary still means significant.

One of the best pieces of parenting advice I ever came across was from a humor article where the writer said whenever she got frustrated with her kids, she would say to herself in almost teenage speak: "what are you... Like, 5?" And then, remembering that they WERE in fact 5, she could laugh. This came to mind for me reading the smiths' interviews: what are you, like 14??

Yes, 14. And I am so glad that my 14 year old words - with all their inchoate existential snippets- were not recorded for the rest of the adult world to parse.

Thank you for a gracious reminder that good parents love their children into maturity, and for celebrating the developing kindness that Jaden and Willow have modeled to the world in the treatment of each other. The rest of their worldview has years yet to be tested.
