Moonrise Kingdom and the meaning of community

Moonrise Kingdom finally made it out to my neck of the woods last weekend, and the thing that really caught my attention was this: all of the characters surrounding Suzy and Sam go from reacting to the "trouble" the pair cause to advocating for them as real human beings. Before, they weren't connected to them, but only to their behaviour- especially as it annoyed or even injured them. Once Suzy and Sam were understood a bit more- once people could see their hearts, the community stood by their side and worked for their good.
