In the surprisingly understated Nicolas Cage drama, breaking bread — rather than revenge — is sweet.

I love this read on PIG. I, too, was immediately struck by the Upper Room vibes of that climactic meal -- not least because the wine triggering the bittersweet memories for Darius is fetched from a place of literal death (something I didn't pick up on until a second viewing). But I think what I probably love most about this film is the almost throwaway conversation between Cage and Wolf by the car when Cage explains his real motive in going so far to find his pig: "Because I love her." After reading your piece, thinking about the significance of the Communion meal we celebrate in church, that statement now has some John 3:16 resonance for me.
